Eiteman among 7 from UGA to win 2026-2027 Fulbright awards

This is a slide from the University of Georgia New Materials Institute to congratulate Mark Eiteman on receiving a 2026-2027 Fulbright award. Eiteman is a professor of biochemical engineering at the University of Georgia and is a faculty member at the New Materials Institute.

Mark A. Eiteman, a professor of biochemical engineering in the College of Engineering and a member of the New Materials Institute faculty, is one of seven members of the University of Georgia faculty and administration to be awarded a 2026-2027 Fulbright Scholarship. The award is Eiteman’s second Fulbright award. 

He will spend the spring 2027 semester at Yerevan State University in Armenia, where he will teach a course in bioprocess control and lead research on microbial fermentation. His work centers on how microorganisms can be used to produce chemicals and materials through fermentation. 

The Fulbright Scholar Program awards merit-based grants to scholars who teach, conduct research, or carry out professional projects abroad. Recipients join a network of alumni that has included heads of state, Nobel laureates and leaders across many fields and industries.
